Our goal is to continuously minimize our carbon footprint and integrate sustainable practices into all our business processes.

With energy-efficient production sites in Germany, optimized delivery processes and a clear focus on resource-saving solutions, we want to make a positive contribution to climate protection.

For us, sustainability is not a trend, but a commitment.

Product transparency

As a future-oriented company, we strive to provide our customers and the market with clear insights into the carbon footprint of our products. Through a thorough analysis of our product range and a comprehensive market assessment, we will be able to provide more information on CO2 emissions in the near future.

This will give our customers the certainty that our products not only meet their technical requirements, but also fulfill their expectations in terms of sustainability. In this way, we contribute to the success of our customer projects and at the same time promote a more sustainable future with environmentally friendly connections.

Environmentally friendly packaging

We have identified great potential for reducing CO2 emissions from our products, and an important milestone will be the implementation of a plastic-free packaging concept. By using sustainable packaging solutions, we not only want to reduce the CO2 footprint of our products, but also reduce plastic consumption and thus minimize our environmental impact. These environmentally friendly alternatives conserve resources, reduce waste and offer both us and our customers benefits through reusable materials and less packaging waste.

One step forward today is already the testing of plastic to paper tape for sealing our shipping cartons.

Sustainable mobility

In order to reduce our CO₂ emissions, we are gradually converting our vehicle fleet to electric and hybrid drives. By 2027, the entire fleet should be low-emission and thus make a decisive contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions.

EFB-Elektronik promotes environmentally friendly mobility through various measures such as job tickets for local public transport and electromobility. Charging stations for electric vehicles as well as charging stations for e-bikes and e-scooters are available at the Bielefeld site.
There are two charging stations in Herford and more are planned. All charging facilities are powered by sustainable electricity.

Sustainable company building

We are planning a comprehensive modernization of our main building to reduce energy consumption and become climate neutral by 2030.
The plan is to invest in energy-efficient technologies and sustainable building materials in order to reduce the use of fossil fuels.

Another project is the installation of a photovoltaic system in Bielefeld to generate some of the electricity locally in future and reduce CO₂ emissions.

We have also switched all of our German locations to 100% green electricity as of January 1, 2024.

Responsible supply chains

In our supply chains, we attach great importance to fair wages, decent working conditions and compliance with safety regulations. While these standards are guaranteed in Europe, they are strictly monitored by qualified personnel in Asia.

Suppliers who wish to work with us are obliged to follow our Code of Supply, which requires respect for human rights and compliance with legal regulations. Over 90% of our strategic suppliers have already been assessed in terms of their sustainability practices.

EFB-Elektronik is sending out a strong signal for sustainability and environmental awareness by donating 250 trees as part of the annual Bielefeld Climate Week. The aim of the campaign is to reforest the local forest step by step. On October 22, 2023, the EFB team, together with families, friends and numerous volunteers, took part in the planting campaign in the Köckerwald forest in Bielefeld Babenhausen.

The seedlings were planted professionally under the guidance of an experienced forester. In addition to contributing to reforestation, the employees and their children also enjoyed playing an active role. For Robin Ohle, CEO of EFB-Elektronik, taking part was a matter close to his heart. The event was organized within the company by Michael Voß, the Sustainability & Material Compliance Officer.

With this campaign, EFB-Elektronik underlines its commitment to environmental protection and shows how companies can contribute to strengthening nature and society by participating in ecological initiatives.

In summer 2024, a team of four dedicated colleagues from EFB-Elektronik took part in the Germany-wide “Cycle to work” campaign. From May 1 to August 31, they pedaled to promote their health and at the same time set an example for sustainable mobility.

With an impressive 3,434 kilometers cycled, the team achieved 43rd place out of 426 active teams in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region. A total of 22,858 participants took part, who together covered over 2.2 million kilometers - a great result for the campaign and the commitment of everyone involved.

EcoVadis is the world's leading provider of sustainability assessments. In 2023, we successfully participated in the assessment and had ourselves evaluated and certified by EcoVadis. We update the assessment at regular intervals.

EcoVadis provides companies with detailed ratings in the area of corporate social responsibility (CSR) via a global, cloud-based SaaS platform. The platform enables companies to monitor ESG risks and compliance, track sustainability targets and improve sustainability performance both within the company and in the value chain. This enables companies to make their sustainability efforts more transparent and traceable.

IntegrityNext is a leading solution for sustainability management in the supply chain. IntegrityNext aims to support companies in developing sustainable supply chains. Legislators, customers and investors are increasingly demanding responsible business practices along global supply chains, which are seen as an important lever for a sustainable economy. In 2015, the international community launched the 2030 Agenda and defined 17 global sustainability goals, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals form the framework for socially, economically and ecologically sustainable development worldwide. The 2030 Agenda serves as a guideline for a sustainable future in which decent living conditions are created and our planet's natural resources are protected in the long term. EFB-Elektronik is actively committed to achieving several UN goals.
